Dear Friends in FreeStyle

There seems to be a lot of lost love amongst each other due to an unforeseen system glitch.

The only intention of Manage was to get votes for work that are admired by others and due to some users adding Love It to their polls an unpleasant situation was created. Whether there is Like or Love It makes no difference as this would in any case indicated that the work was appreciated and was voted for.

No one received a dislike so no votes was lost by anyone.

Please take note that FreeStyle management has decided to change all polls to Like and Love It. So it does not matter on which one you get votes, it will count towards your final score.

Those who used other pointing systems on their polls please note that your points have been stored under Likes.

Also please take note that because of the extension of the competition that all poll dates have been moved forward for voting until 28th February and all the polls are activated again, so please participate again.

We apologise for any inconvenience but have learned a great deal to avoid future issues like this.

I normally don't comment on work but I want to add my view today.

I have 2 teenage daughters, 14 and 17, and I am a very involve parent in their lives because I want to protect them. But how do you protect your children, is it by keeping everything away from them?

Our children are exposed far more in schools than through a poem that expresses emotions that a teenage girl experience when she gives herself to a man without understanding what will happen to her emotionally. My 14 year old just had to do an exam on sexual organs of both male and female. The children are taught this at a young age with not being able to understand any emotions that are involved in a sexual experience, so how do we deal with that? We teach them about the emotions they will experience when they get into a sexual relationship. We can't keep them in the dark any longer because the world is not teenage friendly no more. They are exposed far more than what we can imagine and if I did not have the open relationship with my girls to talk about this I properly also would have been in the dark.

We as parents should educate our children but not crucify someone for writing about the hurt a teenage girl went through. We need to be expressive about these things so that they are prepared. They then also feel that we as parents trust them and teach them responsibility and are there for them to talk about things they experience. As much as we would like to protect them from this you can't be there 24 hours a day to prevent it, so we should teach them rather to wait than to experiment with sex.

This poem just express the hurt, this is a warning to all teenagers to think twice before getting involved sexually and also to all people because emotions are relevant for all males and females when involved in a sexual experience! The Author had so much insight regarding the subject at a young age and just wanted to share this message, although sensitive it is a reality in life, the questions is just how can we use this positively.
